Access to the department

Physiotherapy sessions at Melittaklinik are primarily held in our rehabilitative gyms, which are equipped with dedicated devices. For specific exercises, patients can use the outdoor therapeutic garden or, when planned, the indoor pool. Access is via the main lobby. At the Outpatient Admissions desk, staff welcome patients for their appointments.

Duration and frequency of sessions

A physiotherapy session varies in length, and the frequency is indicated in the prescription. The schedule is agreed upon in advance for better organization.

Techniques used

Based on each patient’s clinical needs, the physiotherapist will apply various rehabilitative techniques: personalized therapeutic exercises, passive joint mobilizations, muscle strengthening, assisted gait training, stretching, proprioceptive techniques, postural re-education, manual therapy, as well as instrumental physical therapies when indicated. The patient is always informed about the rehabilitative plan to ensure maximum transparency and engagement.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. To use the service under agreement with the National Health Service, a referral is required.

Normally no, physiotherapy should not cause intense pain. However, during some exercises the patient may feel muscle discomfort or stretching, which is entirely normal when reactivating a weakened or stiff area. The therapist, monitoring individual reactions, adjusts the treatment and intensity.

The doctor’s prescription indicates the number of sessions; typically, an agreed course includes 6–10 sessions, after which the situation will be assessed. The doctor may prescribe one or more additional courses.

Yes. Patient collaboration is essential for the success of the rehabilitation process. The physiotherapist assigns simple exercises to be performed at home daily to complete the work done during sessions.

Yes, the Melittaklinik staff is bilingual. As usual in such cases, communication with therapists takes place in the patient’s preferred language.
